The course includes 457 Total Qualification Hours, and learners typically complete their Portfolio of Evidence in a minimum of 6 months.

Assessment is done through the following:

Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)

A digital log of workplace activities, completed via the PebblePad platform. Learners record and reflect on practical skills gained in their dental practice. This must be completed and signed off before proceeding to the final exams.

EXAM STYLE:

1. Knowledge Test

An online multiple-choice exam completed through the MaxExam App. Learners are only eligible for this after completing their PoE.

2. Professional Discussion

A scenario-based assessment conducted via Zoom, similar to an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination), testing practical understanding and decision-making. Only candidates who pass the Knowledge Test will be allowed to sit this final discussion.

All components must be passed to achieve the qualification.

Yes. It is the student’s responsibility to actively search for their own placement in a dental practice.

The college does offers complimentary placement support as an added service to boost your job search. This includes help with:

  • CV preparation
  • Job application guidance
  • Interview tips
  • Access to potential employer networks

However, placement is not guaranteed by the college, and students must take initiative in securing their own position. Working a minimum of 16 hours per week as a Trainee Dental Nurse is a requirement for course progression.

Yes. Everest Education has a dedicated placement team to assist students in finding dental nursing roles during and after the course.

Assessors are qualified dental professionals appointed by Everest Education to support learners throughout the course. Their key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring learner progress
  • Guiding the completion of the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)
  • Providing feedback on clinical skills and workplace performance
  • Ensuring the learner meets the required standards in line with the GDC Scope of Practice

Assessors also liaise with workplace mentors and help ensure learners are ready for final assessments.

Witnesses are dental professionals working within the learner’s clinical environment (e.g., dentists, hygienists, practice managers) who observe and verify the learner’s practical performance in day-to-day tasks.

They are not responsible for assessing academic content but confirm that the learner has:

  • Carried out specific procedures or tasks
  • Demonstrated professional behaviour
  • Followed safety and infection control protocols

Witnesses play a crucial role in validating workplace-based evidence submitted through PebblePad.

Absolutely. Our learners receive ongoing academic and pastoral support, including access to qualified tutors and technical help 24/7.
Once enrolled, each student is provided with a college email account (Microsoft 365), which is used exclusively for accessing the online class system via the Teams App.

Class Access:

  • Both online and face-to-face learners are added to their respective class groups on Microsoft Teams.
  • Online students must join live video classes using links shared by their tutor within the Teams App.
  • Tutors will upload all learning materials, resources, assignments, and announcements digitally to the group.

Support & Guidance:

A step-by-step guidebook is provided to help students navigate the Teams system and stay engaged with their course activities.

Email Deactivation:

Please note: The college email account is strictly for academic purposes. Once a student completes, withdraws or places the course on hold, their college email account will be permanently deactivated from the system after a short period.

If a student violates the college’s Code of Conduct, access to both the online class and the college email account may be suspended or permanently revoked.

The college will not be held responsible for any personal data loss if students use their college email account for non-academic purposes or as a file storage solution. Students are advised not to store personal files or information using their college email.

At Everest Education, we take data protection seriously and are fully compliant with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We collect only the data necessary for your enrolment, course delivery, assessment, and support services. This includes your name, contact details, proof of identity, and relevant health information (e.g. Hepatitis B vaccination status), which are securely stored and accessed only by authorised personnel.

We do not share your personal data with third parties without your explicit consent, unless required by law or regulatory bodies (e.g. NEBDN or GDC).

Yes. Upon successful completion of all assessments (PoE, Knowledge Test, and Professional Discussion), you will receive the NEBDN Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing, which enables you to register with the General Dental Council (GDC).

Absolutely. Many overseas-trained dentists choose this course to enter the UK dental sector. It provides a clear and compliant pathway to begin working as a qualified dental nurse in the UK.

If you defer or withdraw, your course access and college email account will be suspended. Re-enrolment or re-sitting fees may apply. If you fail your final assessments, resit options are available based on NEBDN’s resit policy. Additional support may be offered before a resit.
